Managing Your Online Reputation

Managing Your Online Reputation
by Brad Holbrook, Founder of ActorIntro.com and AuthorIntro.com
The video resume is a trend that’s become popular in this competitive job market. It’s becoming an indispensable tool particularly in the arts/entertainment industry, where your image and the way you come across is vital for booking a job, getting an interview, or selling your product.
But video is also a strategic way to manage your online reputation. Now that YouTube is the second biggest search engine right behind Google, having a video of yourself that you control is a great way to "stuff" your search results.
Be sure to tag your video with your name and keywords for your industry or target job.  Videos also show up higher in Google results than regular text-based websites, so video is a great way to control your search engine results.
It’s worth the investment to have your video professionally shot and edited so you look great and you’re well-represented. It’s true that you never get a second chance to make a first impression, and unflattering lighting and poor sound quality can make you look amateurish and overshadow what matters most – YOU.
Video can go on your personal website, your Facebook profile, YouTube, Vimeo, and many more sites. You can add the link to emails, cover letters, and resumes, or use it in a follow-up email.
People like to interact with people they feel they know, and video is a great way to jump that hurdle – all while capturing your target audience online and putting your best self forward.
